Liberia Telecommunications Authority, CSquared, and USAID Unveil 350km Fiber-Optic Backbone, Revolutionizing Internet Access for Millions

Today marks a historic milestone in Liberia’s technological advancement as the Liberia Telecommunications Authority, in collaboration with CSquared and USAID, unveils a groundbreaking 350km fiber-optic backbone. This monumental initiative is poised to significantly expand internet access to millions of Liberians, heralding a new era of connectivity and opportunity.

The partnership builds upon CSquared’s commendable efforts to provide high-speed internet services to 76% of Liberians through broadband services, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering inclusive connectivity across the nation. The substantial investment by CSquared and USAID underscores their dedication to realizing a future where every Liberian can benefit from accessible internet connectivity.

Moreover, plans are already underway to establish redundancy for the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) cable, ensuring enhanced reliability and resilience in Liberia’s internet infrastructure. Additionally, the Liberia Telecommunications Authority is actively engaged in crafting a regulatory framework conducive to fostering inclusive connectivity, further reinforcing the nation’s commitment to digital inclusion and economic development.

This collaborative effort signifies a significant leap forward in Liberia’s journey towards a digitally empowered society, promising transformative opportunities for education, commerce, and innovation. As the nation embraces the digital age, this milestone reaffirms Liberia’s determination to bridge the digital divide and empower its citizens through ubiquitous access to the internet.
